Why would you want a voice recorder?
Even if you have no imagination, like me, you can come up with at
least a dozen different uses. I have used it to record a community
discussion I attended. I have used it for lectures at college,
brainstorming sessions, even recorded ideas I have while driving and
to make ‘To Do’ lists. I have used it to get ‘sound bites’ to
add a ‘Wow’ factor to my media presentations.
Most states allow you to legally record
a conversation if one of the parties involved knows the conversation
is being recorded. Since you are the one recording the conversation
then you can legally record. These are easy to conceal so that nobody
else will know if you need to do a covert recording. Yes, most of us
at sometime or another wishes they would have a recording of some
conversation they have had. Now you can.

Good for biking or Jogging.
I work about 20 miles from where I
live. In the good weather months of the year I often ride my bike.
People say they “love the wind in there face”. Not me. If I have
the wind in my face that means I have a head wind and I need really
don’t like peddling into the wind. I really try to practice safe
biking. A helmet is a must, I am always watching the other drivers
and I have a safety light .
I usually set the blinker on in the
elevator as I am leaving work. I remember a comment one time of
another elevator rider. He said “I really hate those blinking
strobe lights. They are so annoying.” I replied to the effect.
Great, then it’s doing it’s job. This light is so that you will
notice me. It appears that it is working. It may be annoying but if
it draws your attention to the fact that I am there then, great”.
He said, “I never thought of it like that. I guess your right”.
So if you are driving and see the
blinking light of a biker, please give them some room and share the
road. All us bikers really appreciate courteous drivers.

Home Security means different things to different people. One may think it
as a home alarm system with a monthly fee attached. Others have the idea bars
on the windows and security doors added to outside doors. Your idea may be
altogether different.
Whatever; your picture of home security the idea is the same. You want to
protect your family and possessions. Most thieves are not interested in you or
your family. They want your belongings. The reason they want your belongings is
so they can fence or pawn them for the money. Knowing this you can now narrow
down what is of most value, to a thief. In other words what can someone steel,
from you, that can then be pawned for quick cash? Answer: Jewelry, TV’s, Musical
instruments and computer externals (Printer, monitors, external hard drives
etc..).
So, how do I protect myself, family and belongings? In other words how do I
make my house less of a target? First make it known that your house is being
watched. You can install, relatively cheap, decoy security cameras. These are
shown to be virtually as effective as a real camera for only a fraction of the
cost. Then put security stickers on doors and windows. This adds to the appearance
of security. Last add an inexpensive home security system.
Here is what you can do for around $200 dollars. HomeSafe Wireless Home
Security System. $119.95. This system Add the Window/door stickers: 6 for $2.99.
Yes, thieves really do pay attention to what is on your doors and windows. They
don’t want any alarms. Outdoor
surveillance camera for under $40.00.
You can feel safe and secure for around

Hidden cameras go by a variety of names including: spy cameras, nanny
cameras and covert cameras. These cameras differ from surveillance cameras in
that these cameras are not meant to be seen. Individuals being observed are not
meant to be known they are being watched.
Yes, there are some individuals who use these types of cameras for perverse
reasons. This is a small percentage and these, because of the sensationalism, make
the news. The vast majority are used for
legal and significant purposes. These cameras are used in the home or business for the purpose
of observing what is happening when you are not there. Companies use these to
see if employees are stealing, or acting inappropriately. In the home parents
use them to observe what a sitter is doing when the parents are not home.
Perhaps you suspect unauthorized entries. How about keeping an eye on parents
under the case of rest homes or hospice? The only limit to how these efficient
cameras are used is your imagination.

Surveillance cameras are meant to be seen. You may have noticed that
surveillance cameras are put in conspicuous places like in the ceiling in
department stores or at the entrance and exits of most stores. This is to let
individuals know they are being watched. This places the thought to potential thief’s
or intruders that there is a good chance that if they steel something they will
be identified and caught. Just the thought of bring caught is enough of a
deterrent for most people.
There are two types of surveillance cameras. First is
the real working camera. Second is the fake, decoy, or imitation camera. Both
have exactly the same outer casing. Meaning you cannot tell the difference between
what is real or imitation. One will cost hundreds of dollars plus monitoring
equipment. The other will cost significantly less and provide about the same
level of security. Remember, just the thought of bring caught is enough of a
deterrent for most people.

First, who should buy a taser? I am a believer in our
"Right to Bare Arms". Although, I don't like the idea of actually
shooting and killing someone. I have found a reasonable alternative that
believe is something to concider. Tasers are a 'non-lethal' means of
self-defense. In police, taser, studies the taser has a higher instant
incapacitation rate than that of a 9mm hand gun. Why? Because it has the power
of 50,000 volts which immediately over-rides the central nervous system
providing incredible take down power. Can anyone purchase a taser? To prevent
the misuse of tasers, by unscrupulous individuals, once you purchase a taser it
will need to be activated. To activate your taser you call an 800 number. You
will be asked questions and a background check is done. If you have a criminal
background your taser will not be activated. If you have a criminal background
then it would be best not to purchase a taser. Also no one under the age of 18
is allowed to purchase a taser.
Next, what is a taser? Tasers shoot out 2 darts attached
to 15 feet of wire. High voltage travels over the wires and into the
assailant's body. A stun gun works on the same principle only with a stun gun
you have to be able to touch the individual you want to stun. Over the years a
lot has been published about the Pros and Cons of tasers. Most being the Con.
Here is a fact to keep in mind. A study was done on the media hype of different
deaths. It was concluded that in the US each year nearly 435,000 deaths occur
as a result of tobacco use. For each death, according to Google, 107 articles
on the web were generated. Contrast that to 48 taser related deaths. Again,
according to Google, for each of taser related death over 1,750 articles were
generated. At my website I show a really nice pie chart comparing different
types of deaths per year, in the US, and the number of articles generated. Take
a look. It is at the bottom of the taser section.
Where should I buy a taser? Online is the best place.
Online gives you a myriad of places to look for different brands and types of
taser devices. Personally I prefer the C2 Taser. It is small and light, so it
conceals easily. Also with some of the newer packages it comes with a test
round. Meaning you can actually shoot it, without using a live round, to see
how it works. Also the C2 Taser has a laser pointer so you can see right where
your shot will be. It also carries a lifetime replacement guarantee.
Why should I buy a taser? A taser will bring you peace of
mind. You will know that you can protect your loved ones without having to kill
another individual. With a gun you may be hesitant to actually use it if you
need to. With a taser you will not have that hesitation because you know you
have the knock down power without the deadly effects.
In today's world the use of a taser is safe and very
effective. If you are contemplating buying a taser rest assured that you are
purchasing protection for your loved ones and peace of mind for yourself.

A diversion safe is a safe that looks like a regular household
item or product. For example, a safe that looks like a soda pop can. Diversion
safes gives you the option to hide your valuables in plain site.
Some of the things thieves are most interested in include
coins, cash and jewelry. Most people hide these items in closets or dresser
drawers. Burglars know this and so that is where they look. These unique "safes" allow
you to hide valuables inside common household products. According to Police
reports these units are better than a locked safe and a hundreds times cheaper.
Why are they better than a locked safe? Because, thieves don't expect you to
have your valuables hidden in plain site.
Experts say that a burglar will spend between 6 to 8 minutes in your
home. He's in a hurry and will grab the most obvious valuable items.
He's not that bright and follows the course of least resistance. Sure
the ones who break into your house may know that Diversion hidden Safes
exist, but they are scared, rushed and just want to get in, grab what
they can and get out. Hiding valuables in diversion home safes make
perfect sense.
We have a wide variety of personal care hidden
safes, household product home safes and food containers with removable
tops and bottoms. They look just like the real items. Valuables can be
secretly hidden inside a look-a-like diversion wall safe and kept in
their seemingly rightful places. Each wall safe is undistinguishable
from the genuine product and is even weighted to feel full. Pick the
ones that will blend in best with what's in your home.

The basic reason we add security to our cars is so that they won't
get stolen. If we take a moment and think like a thief we can soon come
up with several reasons why a person my want to steal our car. With this
you can now make a plan that will make your vehicle less of a target.
What
is it about your vehicle that would make it a target for theft. Could
it be that the color blends in with all the other cars on the road so it
won't be easily recognizable. If your car had a bright pink with black
poke-a-dots paint job chances are thieves won't want that car. Perhaps
your car is new? Maybe the body of your car is in perfect condition.
Perhaps the stereo is state of the art.
Chances are your current
vehicle fits one or more of the above conditions. So what can you do to
make you car less of a target? This is where automobile security comes
in. Ideally professional thief's would like to break into your car, hot
wire it and be gone in less than a minute. Anything you can do to make
that time longer and the thief's tend to look elsewhere.
Here are a
couple of suggestions that suggest to a thief, "don't try this car
because it will take you longer than a couple minutes to get what you
want". First is the steering wheel lock. Steering wheel locks make it so
that the steering wheel cannot be turned. Thus preventing the vehicle
from being driven away. Some locks come with alarms and this is good.
These locks are not easily picked and the metal that prevents the wheel
from turning is not easily broken or sawed through. Now if you get one
with an alarm then the thief really doesn't want to try to pick the lock
while a 120db alarm is going off in his ears.
Second suggestion
is to get a simulated alarm light. These look just like the real car
alarm lights except that they cost around $10 instead of hundreds. Some
even come with widow decals. A thief will look at a car with a car alarm
decal and a flashing alarm light and see that the steering wheel is
locked and will more that likely move to an easier target.
In
today's economy, unless you can afford a luxury car with the latest and
most expensive automobile security and alarm system with GPS tracking,
you want something that is as effective as other car alarm systems and
at a reasonable price.
This is what I found to be a very good
method of deterring criminal activity against our vehicle. Have a
reasonably priced steering wheel lock and simulated alarm light. For
around $70 dollars you can have a good car security systetm.

Over time I have
received various questions about stun guns. What are they, are they safe, do I
need one and many more. In this article I will address several of the most
common questions I receive.
Q: Do I need a stun gun?
A: My dentist has
a poster posted where all who come into his office can see. It says: Question:
Do I need to floss all my teeth. Answer: No, just the ones you want to keep. So
my answer to, do I need a stun gun, is this, only if you don't want to be a statistic.
Q: What are the effects of a stun gun?
A: Stun guns are safe
because they have low amperage and high voltage. A stun
gun is designed to affect the body's nervous system. When the body is hit with a sudden electrical shock, the body and brain are temporarily bewildered. Typically
shocks are accompanied by numbness in the area of the stun. This lasts about 15 min but can last up to an hour. Amperes are the measure of the current or
speed and volts are the measure of size or intensity.
ñ A stun of less than a second will startle the attacker and cause a sharp pain.
ñ A stun of 1
or 2 seconds will cause greater pain and the muscels to spasm. This can also put the assailiant to the ground.
ñ Over
3 seconds will cause significant pain, and will more than likely put the attacker to the ground. It can also cause mental confusion and disorientation. Generally any charge over three seconds
will cause the aggressor to fall to the ground. The aggressor will be unable to
recover for several minutes and effects may last for up to fifteen minutes.
ñ If
you follow your first stun immediately with a second to the groin the the
aggressor could be out for longer the fifteen minutes.
Q: Can Stun Guns be fired multiple times?
A: Yes. Stun Guns are designed to be used numerous times. Numerious types are rechargeable.
Q: Are there any permanent effects of stun guns?
A: Stun Guns are non-lethal products and are
designed not to cause any long term damage. OK, after someone is stuned I have heard of them falling and hitting something. Other than that the only other permanent effect
would be that they say to themselves “I'll never to that again”.
Q:Will I be shocked if the attacker touches me?
A: No! If the
aggressor is physically touching you when you stun them the shock will stay in them.
Q: Will a stun gun work through clothing?
A: Yes!
Q: Why should I buy
a stun gun?
A stun gun will bring you peace of mind. You will know
that you can protect your loved ones without having to kill another individual.
With a gun you may be hesitant to actually use it if you need to. With a stun
gun you will not have that hesitation because you know you have the knock down
power without the deadly effects.
In today's world the use of a stun gun is safe and very
effective. If you are contemplating buying a stun gun rest assured that you are
purchasing protection for your loved ones and peace of mind for yourself.

Q: Do you spell "Pepper Spray" with or without a hyphen? A: It is correctly spelled without the hyphen.
Q:
How does Pepper Spray Work? A: The product works by causing an attacker
great pain such as burning of the eyes, mouth and skin. The spray
swells the mucous membranes, which makes breathing difficult, also
swells the veins in the eyes, causing the eyes to close and tear.
Q: What percent of the spray is pepper? A: Generally 17% and rated at 2,000,000 Scoville Head Units (SHU).
Q:
Can you explain more about Scoville Heat Units? A: The Scoville scale
measures the hotness chili peppers, as defined by the amount of capsicum
it contains. Capsicum is a chemical compound which stimulates chemo
receptor nerve endings in the skin, especially the mucous membranes. The
number of Scoville heat units (SHU) indicates the amount of capsicum
present. As comparisons let's look at some common peppers. The common
green pepper has a Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) of 0. The Anaheim pepper has
a SHU of between 500 and 2,500. The Jalapeno has a (SHU) of between
2,500 and 8,000. Tabasco and Cayenne have the same (SHU) of between
30,000 and 50,000. The hottest pepper know to man is the Naga Jolokia
and has a (SHU) of between 800,000 and 1,041,000. So, pepper spray of
2,000,000 (SHU) carries a punch. Oh, just so you know. Pure Capsicum has
a (SHU) of between 15,000,000 and 16,000,000.
Q: How long do the effects last? A: Between 20-30 minutes
Q:
Why should I buy pepper spray? A: Be a victor not a victim. Put another
way. "Better to be safe than sorry". Pepper spray gives you peace of
mind. You will know that you can protect yourself in time of need. You
can feel confident in your environment because you know you have knock
down power. The use of this spray is safe and very effective. Almost
daily you can read about someone who escaped harm by using this product.
Pepper spray is the most common used self-defense device on the market.
Q:
Is the anything else besides pepper spray available to consumers? A:
Pepper gel is fast becoming the popular item. Spray this gel on someone
and the first thing they want to do is get it off. Being a gel it
doesn't come off. It just gets messier and messier and this gives you
the perfect opportunity to get away. Mace spray is also a good product
and also tear gas it very effective. New items also include combo packs.
Example: Pepper spray is combined with tear and a UV Marking dye. The
pepper spray causes burning of the eyes. Also causes uncontrollable
coughing and choking. The tear gas causes profuse tearing, and an
intense burning sensation to the face and disorientation. UV dye marks
the assailant and may aid in identification once apprehended
I
hope I have taken away some of the astigmatism associated with pepper
spray and have given you some useful information. My second hope is that
after you buy this product you never have to use it.

We have the "Right to Bear Arms". Yes we have the right to own a gun I don't like
the idea of actually shooting and killing someone. So how do I protect my family? I believe I have found a
reasonable alternative to consider. Stun
guns are a 'non-lethal' means of self-defense.
What is a taser?
What is a stun gun and how to they differ? Tasers shoot out 2 darts
attached to 15 feet of wire. High voltage travels over the wires and
into the assailant's body. Stun guns use high voltage and low amperage
to temporarily disable an attacker for several minutes. The stun gun does
not rely on pain for results. The energy stored in the gun is dumped
into the attacker's muscles causing loss of balance and muscle control,
confusions and disorientation. The stun gun also interrupts the
neurological impulses that control and direct voluntary muscle movement.
When the attacker's muscular system is overwhelmed and controlled by
the stun gun he looses his balance.
You may ask yourself how much
voltage is enough? That will depend on your situation. If you are a lady
and you don't want to be seen with a baton s-gun you may want the
convenience of a handheld stun gun that you can conceal in your purse.
If however you want people to see that you are prepared to defend
yourself then by all means get a stun gun that is more visible.
When
confronted by a would be assailant don't be afraid to test fire the
weapon. Just the firing will often change and attacker's mind. He will
see those sparks fly and he knows you mean business. If there comes a
time when you have to use your gun I suggest two stuns. The first to get
the attacker away from you followed immediately by a second stun
directly to the groin. I'm Not Kidding, do this and it's GAME OVER!
Potential victim (1), aggressor (0). Be mindful also should the attacker
be touching you, the current will NOT pass to your body! This is a good
thing.
Where should I buy a stun gun? Online is the best place.
Online gives you a myriad of places to look for different brands and
types of stun devices. Personally I prefer the Runt brand. It is small
and light, so it conceals easily and there are several rechargeable
units.
When you shop for stun guns you first begin to notice the
choice of styles in s-guns. There are the traditional style stun gun.
You also have ones that look like a cell phone or lipstick case. There
is the hand hidden or the baton style. My favorite is the flashlight,
alarm and s-gun all in one. Next, you may wonder about all the variation
in voltage ratings. You see them anywhere form 100,000 volts to
5,000,000 volts and higher. One thing to note. It is very difficult to
measure actual voltage and so some of the advertised voltage is off a
little. But generally they are close enough to count. Obviously the
higher the number the more powerful it is. And of course the higher the
price.
I have received many questions about stun guns. What I have
decided to do is to write another article that will address some of the
questions that I get. I hope you have found this article to be
informative and not just talk without substance.

The Second Ammendment reads: "A well regulated Milita, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." These 27 words have been the subject of many debates ove the years. Whatever your position on the Second Amendment might be, isn't it nice to have a third choice. A choice to defend yourself and loved ones without killing. That choice is in stun guns and tasers. Both methods offer a non-lethal way of subduing an aggressor without lethal results. These have been used very effectivly on many, would-be, assailants. Tasers shoot an electrical charge that incapacitates the attacker up to 15 feet away. A stun gun requires that you be in contact, however a 50,000 volts charge will leave your assailant stunned long enough to get away. If you want to give a second stun then go for the neck or groin. They won't be in any fame of mind to pursue you.

While it's important to put in place a home security and safety plan for your house and your property, it's really worth considering your neighborhood as well. Do you have a neighborhood watch in place and are the majority of homes and yards upkept well? Various studies have shown that a well-maintained neighborhood and volunteer watch can actually go a lot further toward preventing crime than all the surveillance cameras and pit bulls you can adorn your property with. And the need for community-involved crime prevention becomes even more important in a down economy when crime tends to go up. As someone in the CNN article says, "Nowadays, you have so many people just walking around pretending, leaving fliers, doing marketing surveys or some such baloney. But what they really are doing is looking for opportunities, watching to see who is or isn't in their homes." Burglars like to do their work when no one is around, so if there's usually someone paying attention to things in your neighborhood (and reporting suspicious activity) the word will get out that this isn't the easiest area to hit. For more on starting a neighborhood watch or the effectiveness of them, check out the articles below: CNN: Neighborhood Watches Are on the Front Line in a Bad Economy How to Start a Neighborhood Watch in Your Community Neighborhood Watches Can Be Effective Against Crime
